A- Asher, Jay - Thirteen Reasons Why
B- Brown, Dan - Inferno
C- Crile, George - Charlie Wilson's War
D- Dumas, Alexandre - Os Três Mosqueteiros
E- Eugenides, Jeffrey - As Virgens Suicidas
F- Flaubert, Gustave - Madame Bovary
G- Grossman, Lev - Os Mágicos
H- Hosseini, Khaled - The Kite Runner
I- Ishiguro, Kazuo - Never Let me Go
J- Junji Ito - Uzumaki
K- Keplinger, Kody - The DUFF
L- Larsson, Stieg - A Rapariga que Sonhava com uma Lata de Gasolina e um Fósforo
M- Márquez, Gabriel García - El Amor en Los Tiempos del Colera
N- Ness, Patrick - Knife of Never Letting Go
O - Ohba, Tsugumi - Death Note (6 últimos volumes)
P- Puzo, Mario - O Padrinho
Q- Queiroz, Eça de - A Capital
R- Revis, Beth - Across the Universe
S- Shusterman, Neil - Unwind
T- Tolkien, J. R. R. - A Irmandade do Anel
U-
V- Vásquez, Juan Gabriel - El Ruido de las Cosas al Caer
W- Wolfe, Tom - A Fogueira das Vaidades
X-
Y-

Pike's Peak: Read 12 books from your TBR pile/s Mount Blanc: Read 24 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Vancouver: Read 36 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR piles/s
Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR pile/s
El Toro: Read 75 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s
Mount Olympus (Mars): Read 150+ books from your TBR pile/s

  • O Padrinho, Mario Puzo
  • O Fiél Jardineiro, John Le Carré
  • Uma Família Inglesa, Julio Dinis
  • Trópico de Capricórnio, Henry Miller
  • Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert
  • Charlie Wilson's War, George Crile

  • A Song of Ice and Fire de George R. R. Martin

5 autores portugueses (lista incompleta)

  • Miguel Sousa Tavares
  • José Rodrigues dos Santos
5 novos autores
  • Lev Grossman
  • Juan Gabriel Vásquez
  • Patrick Ness
  • Neil Shusterman
  • Neil Gaiman
5 graphic novels/mangas
  • V for Vendetta de Alan Moore
  • Maus de Art Spiegelman
  • Locke and Key de Joe Hill

  • A Great and Terrible Beauty de Libba Bray (Review aqui)
  • City of Bones de Cassandra Clare (Review aqui)
  • LA Confidential de James Ellroy
  • Os Homens que Odeiam as Mulheres de Stieg Larsson (Review aqui)
  • 1Q84, volume III, de Haruki Murakami (Review aqui)
  • 1984 de George Orwell (Review aqui)
  • Anna and the French Kiss de Stephanie Perkins (Review aqui)
  • The Hobbit de J.R.R. Tolkien (Review aqui)

Desafio do blog The Deliberate Reader

  • The Hobbit de J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Contos de Eça de Queiroz
  • A Tragédia da Rua das Flores de Eça de Queiroz (Review aqui)
  • A Mulher de 30 Anos de Honoré Balzac
  • LA Confidential de James Ellroy
  • O Paciente Inglês de Michael Ondaatje
  • Entrevista com um Vampiro de Anne Rice (Review aqui)
  • Antes Morrer que Matar de James Hadley Chase
  • Entre Dois Amores de Mary Westmacott (Review aqui)
  • Sons and Lover de D. H. Lawrence (Review aqui)

Reading Challenge Update #7

I know it's been a while since I've done one of these and so I thought it was finally time to let you guys know how I was completing my challenges.

Here's how I've been doing so far:

* A to Z Challenge: I've read three books from my list and they were City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld and La Saga de Los Longevos by Eva García Sáenz. I made a small change on my initial list, because this last book wasn't in it but I decided to include it because it was so different from what I had read and also because it meant I had to buy one less book to complete my goal. You can check my complete list here.

* Books on my bookshelves challenge: unfortunately I haven't read any of the book from my list. I hope to read at least one book for this challenge this month ... (This challenge was created by deliberatereader.com)

Reading Challenge Update #6

I'ts been a while since I've done one of these but the truth is during the month of June I didn't read any of the books from my challenges so I thought there was no point in doing a post about that.

Here's what I've been doing as far as the challenges go

  • A-Z challenge: I've read 3 books from this challenge and they were Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (review here), The Book Thief by Markus Zuzak (review here) and A Great and terrible Beauty by Libba Bray( review here). So far I've read 10 of the 25 books I pledged to read
  • Books on my bookshelves challenge: I've read only two books for this challenge and they were The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (I'll try to post my review during this week) and The English Patient by Michael Onndaatje. (this challenge was created by deliberatereader.com).

Reading Challenge Update #5

As you may already know, this year I've decided to take part in two reading challenges: the A-Z challenge and another one where I would try to read most (if not all) of the books that are currently sitting on my bookshelves. So here is my update for the month of May:

  • A-Z challenge: I've only managed to read one book for this challenge and that was Blodd Red Road by Moira Young - which I haven't reviewed here but I'll try to put up a review until the end of this week.I still think I've been negleting this challenge and I just hope that from now on I'll be able to read more of the books from my list.

  • Books on my bookshelves challenge: I've also read only one book for this challenge and that was A Woman of Thirty by Honoré Balzac. It's an interesting analysis about society, marriges and the women's part in them in the XIX century, but the way it was written wasn't that appealing (at least to me). (this challenge was created by deliberatereader.com).

Reading Challenge Update #4

As you may already know, this year I've decided to take part in two reading challenges: the A-Z challenge and another one where I would try to read most (if not all) of the books that are currently sitting on my bookshelves. So here is my update for the month of April:

  • A-Z challenge: I've only managed to read one book for this challenge and that was Insurgent by Veronica Roth - I've already posted the review for this book. It wasn't great month but at least I read one book. I would really like to read at least two in May because I fell like I'm neglecting this challenge ...

  • Books on my bookshelves challenge: This one was a little better because I read 2 books from my list and they were Tragedy in the Street of the Flowers by Eça de Queiroz and Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice - I've also posted a review for this one. I managed to meet my quota of two books per month and I'm glad that I've been able to shrink that list so much in just 4 months. I would really really really like to read all of the books from that list this year ... one can dream! (this challenge was created by deliberatereader.com).

Reading Challenge Update #3

As you may already know, this year I've decided to take part in two reading challenges: the A-Z challenge and another one where I would try to read most (if not all) of the books that are currently sitting on my bookshelves. So here is my update for the month of February:
  • A-Z Challenge - I've managed to read 2 books from my list (check out the list here) and they were 1984 by George Orwell (review here) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson (I'll try to post a review for this book within the next few days)

  • Books from my bookshelves challenge -  This month I read 3 books that had been sitting on my bookshelves for a while and they were 1984by George Orwell, Sons and Lovers by D. H. Lawrence and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. Once again, I managed to surpassed my quota for this month I'm actually happy with the books I read this month for my challenge because I really enjoyed them. As you may already know, this year I've decided to take part in two reading challenges: the A-Z challenge and another one where I would try to read most (if not all) of the books that are currently sitting on my bookshelves. So here is my update for the month of February:

Reading Challenge Update #1

For this year I've decided to take part in two reading challenges - the A to Z challenge and another one where I would try to read as many of the books that are currently sitting on my bookshelves.

  • A to Z challenge - So far I haven't read any of the books from my list but this month I'll probably start reading some of them.

  • Books from my bookshelves challenge - This month I read two of the books that had been sitting on my bookshelves for a while; I read La Mécanique du Coeur (review here) and El Palacio de la Medianoche (review here). Reading Challange # 1

I've never done a reading challenge before but I thought that 2013 would be a great year to start doing something different and to set some goals.

I've realized that I have a lot of books sitting on my bookshelves waiting for me to pick them up and so I've decided (to try) to read most of them this year. The purpose of this challenge is to knock down the pile of books that I've been accumulating over the years and that I haven't read until now; I won't be considering the books that I buy during 2013 because I know that I'll read them as soon as a get them.
So far I have 31 books that I haven't read and what I'll be trying to do is read, at least, two of them per month (24 by the end of the year).

This is the list of books that are currently on my bookshelves that I haven't read:
  • 1984, George Orwell
  • 1Q84 (third volume), Haruki Murakami
  • The Name of the Wind, Patrick Rothfuss
  • El Palacio de la Medianoche, Carlos Ruiz Zafon
  • The Hobbit, J R R Tolkien
  • O Primo Basílio, Eça de Queiroz
  • A Capital, Eça de Queiroz
  • Contos, Eça de Queiroz
  • O Mistério da Estrada de Sintra, Eça de Queiroz
  • A Ilustre Casa de Ramires, Eça de Queiroz
  • O Crime do Padre Amaro, Eça de Queiroz
  • Alvez & Cia, O Mandarim, O Conde de Abranhos, Eça de Queiroz
  • A Tragédia da Rua das Flores, Eça de Queiroz
  • A Relíquia, Eça de Queiroz
  • A Woman of Thirty, Honoré Balzac
  • The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas
  • The Bonfire of Vanities, Tom Wolfe
  • LA Confidential, James Ellroy
  • The Godfather, Mario Puzo
  • The Constant Gardener, John Le Carré
  • The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje
  • Uma Família Inglesa, Julio Dinis
  • Interview with the Vampire, Anne Rice
  • Antes Morrer que Matar, James Hadley Chase
  • Tropic of Capricorn, Henry Miller
  • Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert
  • Giant's Bread, Mary Westmacott
  • Sons and Lovers, D H Lawrence
  • Charlie Wilson's War, George Crile
  • La Méchanique du Coeur,  Mathias Malzieu
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson
I apologize for the portuguese names but so far I haven't found a translation.

Each month I'll post my progress and I'll try to review as many of this books as possible.

I got the idea for this challenge at The Deliberate reader: http://deliberatereader.com/
